power window failure 850

Just the other day I had all the power windows and the sunroof suddenly go dead. I thought it was the self reseting fuse in position #37 but it was not. neither side of the fuse sockets was hot when the key was "on". have any of you had a problem with this fuse position or anything? Also, is there a wiring diagram for the car online anywhere. Need to get these windows open badly. Help me out. 95' 850 T Wagon, 120k.

Rmagoo is probably right. Spring for a small can of CRC electronic cleaner, not the giant economy size, because it is very injurious to the ozone layer. DISCONNECT the battery, and then take the can with the thin plastic tube, shove it into the key opening as far as you can, and flush it. Wait a while for the liquid to evaporate, reconnect the battery, punch in the radio code you forgot to memorize, and that will probably cure your problem.

On a related note, if and when the individual windows begin to fail, and they will, it's because the little contacts inside the separate switches corrode from the arcing, and you have to take them out, touch up the contacts with a piece of fine grit sandpaper or scrape clean with your Swiss Army knife, treat them with your can of CRC, and reinstall. Sometimes the ignition switch, the electrical portion can cause this. Try wiggling the key gently to see if you can get a different spot and if it starts to work you will need to replace, they are about $55 from volvo.

Everyother electrical item on the car works fine. The car runs perfect, it is just the power windows and sunroof and it is only position number 37 on the fuse box that is dead. The ign. switch should be fine. i am wondering if a relay is to blame, or possibly some firing under the fuse box got chewed (phantom mice) or something.

if you remove the larger cover held on with #25 torx screws the relays are exposed, there are three overload relays #105 106 and 107 next to each other. they are the small square ones. they are identical so just swap them and see if you get power. the 107 is the one closest to fender that is the power supply for #37.
