I had a mobile company who specializes in Odometer repairs come to my office to do the repair. It was not expensive. Biggest problem was that after they did that the lights for the trip computer no longer work.

When I had the A/C Evap replaced I asked that they replace dash light bulbs. They must have missed whatever was wrong with the trip display and the light on one part of the A/C controls.

While you are in the panel, replace the 4 bulbs so you don't have to back there later. Autoparts stores have them.

After you get a new plastic odometer wheel, check out:

This is a common problem with the 850's. Mine quit too and I had to replace the little gear inside. I'm 99% sure that yours is the same problem. Although there are probably cheaper places to get this gear, but the following comes with a DVD to explain the procedure for replacement if you're up to it. http://www.ipdusa.com/ProductsCat.aspx?CategoryID=1732&NodeID=5357&RootID=629
The following is without the instructional video, and cheaper:

You can probably find them on eBay too.

If you are not up to doing it yourself, then I suggest a good indy repair facility or the dealer. You can take the instrument cluster out, or have your indy repair shop do this for you and send the whole unit off for repair to this place: http://www.speedometer.com/ (That's what I did several years ago before these gears were available on the web, and the cost was about $100... I was without odometer/speedometer for several days.) However, if you're going to go as far as taking out the instrument cluster yourself (you do have to take the driver's side of the dash loose from the car), you're about 90% there in regards to fixing the problem, so why not go ahead and do it yourself. Just my opinion.

What...?

Change a 'little gear'...?
I sent my 855T5 into an indy garage and they told me that my ABS modulator needs replacement!!! Argh. And it costed me more than a thousand ringgit (local currency) to have it replaced into a rebuilt one. Add another RM100 for labor. A totally new one was priced at 7K! Argh.

:(

Sorry to hear that...could have been the ABS, but without more info I wouldn't know. If they did that to you when a little gear was all it took I'd be raising some cane. Ask them for the parts list of what all they replaced...had to do.

If you have any bulbs burned out in the dash, while you're in there, replace those too...they are common Autozone parts...also, if you have any rattles from your dash, get some felt backing stuff (like at cloth/sewing store) and put in around where the plastic stand-offs are. If the plastic stand-offs are broken (ofen the case), then you can get a tube of silicone (I recommend black like for calking around the tub, but not white...you can get it at Home Depot, etc.) and cover the stand-offs with it before putting your dash back. It will get rid of your rattles. Anyway, good luck

In regards to the guy hollering here about his ABS, not sure what's going on there...I wouldn't be too concerned unless he gives us more details. In other words, don't think ABS is your problem.
