Flex Pipe Replacement?

On my '95 850 the replacment piece cost is $615. Any so;utions to this "lets reconsider" delema. Am convinced there is a work around. This is the "before the catalytic" version.

    Is your 95 850 a turbo or N/A? Are we talking about the exhaust pipe from the header pipe to the Cat? Please use more words, they don't charge extra to embelish a bit :)

      Klaus, Non turbo car. Five tubes from the engine block collect at a flange which immediately becomes a 3 inch section of steel mesh. Next comes the bend pipe to take it to the catalytic converter etc. There are rumours you can weld in a section but of what subtance?
