ECT sensor 850

Hello,
How would I know if i have a bad ECT sensor and where is it exactly located? By the way how does the Throttle position sensor looks like because my A6 code (411) indicates i have a low reading on my TPS?
Thanks a lot.

You'll get P0116 for a bad ECT 850

The bad ECT sensor code is P0116 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Range/Performance Problem. However, this code is the same thing you get for thermostat problems, and based upon what I've read here, the thermostat is much more likely to be the problem. I got this code about 2 months ago on my '98 S70 GLT...left the ECT sensor alone and replaced the theromstat (with the clear and easy instructions from Bay 13 and www.matthewsvolvosite.com), and no problems since.

The TPS is located on the throttle housing...mine is under the plastic throttle protector housing, partly hidden behind the idle air control valve (at the front). They can be tested by measuring the resistance as the throttle is opened.

This is the TPS from a bike, but you get the idea of positioning.
Mine is on the front lower of the throttle housing, held on by two screws.
