Transmission Solenoid Replacement 850

I've been searching web sites for additional info re my transmission woes and came across an article that describes how the S1 and S2 shifting solenoids could be changed without removing the tranny. I'd like to give it a try. Has anyone ever done this? The article
is "www.babcox.com/editorial/ic/ic40238.htm".

    Transmission Solenoid Replacement 850

Well........if this is any help I did it on a Ford Escort trani about 2 months ago. All the solenoids where on the valve body which is inside of the oil pan.
My local library had the Mitchells manuals and they described how to remove it!
I would check out a source like that first......the volvos could be waaaaay more complicated......ya gotta make sure no special tools are needed. In the case of the Escort it only required an alignment of the shifter fork....I did that with a screw driver while I loaded in the valve body. Only cost me $60 in parts...........trani shop wanted $450!! Do the homework.....it may be way too complicated!!!
