The disk I've been provided with came from someone called "VADIS_Guy". I'd assume it's bootlegged.
I have done every test with the sucker powered up, plugged into a car. Green light is on.
There does seem to be a spot where another power supply can be plugged into the back of the black box, but I'm hesitant to just throw voltage at something I'm not 100% sure of, certainly since this is rather expensive equipment!
If you have any kinds of updates or any other info on this confounded thing, I'd appreciate an email. I'll do my best to get check it as soon as I can, but like I said above, I've been with out internet access for quite some time.
I'm beginning to think that the computer's "serial port" may be the issue. The mechanic wants to use his laptop with the thing, but his laptop doesn't have a DB9 serial port. It does have USB though. I went out and bought him a DB9 serial USB adapter, and it's loaded up just fine and works (tested with another serial device), but it just makes me wonder...
I have it set to use COM1, and the baudrate is 19200 for the serial port. Computer is running Windows XP Home. It's got plenty of speed and memory.
Thanks for the help guys.
