Headlight Keeps Going out S60 2002

Hi, this is my first post. Nice to meet you. Both front headlights keep going out. Low beam only, high beams always work. I have had them fixed at least 5 times over the past 8 months. I have told the dealership and my mechanic and they claim to fix the "short" each time. But, nevertheless it goes out approx. every 5 weeks or so. Any ideas on what is causing the problem? I appreciate your response. Thanks, Melissa.

I have a 2000 V40 and on that model it was a common problem.
Volvo addressed this in a service bulletin. They replaced a relay with a new one that incorporates a resistance so that the headlights pulled more equal power. (or something to that effect).

All I can think of is a faulty voltage regulator, like you are getting consistatly high voltage. You could turn off the daytime running lights (low beams) until you get the voltage checked.

Klaus - how do you turn off the daytime running lights? Those headlight bulb replacements seem to be on the "too frequent" routine for the S60's.

On my "modern" cars, there is what looks like a little screw next to the headlight switch. If yours has one, turn it to 11:00 o'clock (or 10:30). That turns off the DRLs.
