CD Changer location = Glovebox 850

So I want to mount my OEM 6 CD changer in the glove box but it won't fit. The back of my glovebox gets narrower. My 850 is a 93 in all of it's uniqueness for that year. I also I tried it in our V70 - similar but different problem, the light projects down into glovebox and therefore won't fit in the glovebox there either. I've read on the list that the glovebox is the easiest and best location for the CD changer, are people modifying their cars to make the fit? It's not just sliding in like I had hoped...

Thanks!

Looks like it's going in the trunk.

Thanks for all of your replies.

The changer in our /95 855 base was installed at our dealer.

They added a metal bracket to the top of the box, and drilled a hole in the back of the box for the cord.

I had to remove the changer to repair a bad glovebox light.

    It was not difficult.

I don't know what the dimensions of your OEM CD changer are, but I have an Alpine 6 disc changer in my 850 and it's pretty slim, maybe you could try an Alpine and sell your OEM?

Mine is in the glovebox of my 95 855 and I love it. It has been many years since I installed it, but I just followed the instructions that accompanied the disc changer. I don't remember any major modifications, but it seems that I did have to drill out some holes in the plastic glovebox liner. I will look for my old instructions.
