Problems with vibration ContiSportcontact2 S60 2001

Hi all,

I have since a few weeks the ContiSportcontact2 (2005/55 W) on my 16" Mimas wheels.
Previously I had the former model Sportcontact, with which I was very happy: No vibration no matter what tire pressure (2.3-2.8 bar).

With my present ContiSportcontacts (type 2), I experienced a vibration at several speeds (100 km/h and higher).

After rotating and balancing at the dealership with computer equipment, I was there and wittnesed the "(0,0)" result.

Still the car (steering wheel and chairs) are vibrating. The chief mechanics, who I respect a lot, drove with the car and claims it is the hard surface of the tire which make you feel any irregularity of the road, and it is NOT an unbalance in wheel/tire assembly. Moreover, the pressure had to be reduced to 2.2 bar for a "comfortable" ride.

My question: Who has experience with the ContiSportcontact type 2?

thanks,

Dutch

Problems with vibration ContiSportcontact2 S60 2001

Here is the result:

Specialists form Continental checked radial forces of the rim/tire combination:
- 4 new tires (ContiSportcontact2 again)
- 1 new rim (warped from factory)
(i.e the combination was not "round")

With the renewed combination, the car is totally vibration-free at all speeds!

PS: Continental advices a tire pressure of about 2.5 bar (cold), and certainly not the lower-limit values.

Regards,

Dutch
