rattle in the back 850 1997

I recently purchased a 97 850 wagon with 125K km and it has a most annoying rattle coming from somewhere in the back - the rear shocks and mounts were recently replaced, so it's not suspension related - I'm quite sure it's an interior noise. Any thoughts?

    Another common problem is the latch on the back seat. Spray the assembly with a silicone and that may solve the problem.

    Two quick things to check are:
    1. Is your parking brake tension tight? If not the rattle could be the parking
    brake shoe slapping against the inside of the drum.
    2. Inside your rear door there is a plate that tends to deteriorate and the odd
    piece will come loose from the outer door skin and rattle around. You can
    check this by simply opening the door and shaking it up & down.

    first thing to check is the interior trim panel on the tailgate. it may be loose - a very common thing to happen.
    There are repair kits out there for about $20.
