S60 AWD High Pitch Noise S60

I have a S60 AWD with 38,000 miles. I have a very High Pitch noise that is coming from the right front wheel (I believe) only when there is heavy rain or heavy slush on the road. I did talk to the dealer and they said I would have to make it happen for them. This problem has only happen to me about six or seven times since I bought the car.

    It's probably the exaust touching the driveshaft. Only happens when it's wet outside, and only AWD cars. Have a look at the driveshaft above the front muffler. If you see a mark worn into the shaft from the muffler, direct your dealer to tech net note #25-21. He should know about it allready without haveing to "reproduce" the condition. The water/slush cools the exaust, causing it to arc up and rub the drive shaft. The tech note details adding a bracket and bushings to prevent this.

      Good News! I went to the dealer and had the Sevice Manager look up this tech note 25-21. I told him that I wasn't real happy that I had to get this information elsewhere. He told me that the tech note just came out. The part is on order, I'm sure this is the fix. Thanks for the info.

        Thanks!! I had a problem with the squeeling all winter. I thought it had to do with ice being trapped between the callipers and the rotors... good news there's a fix!! Now the only thing driving me nuts is an old ghost from the my 240 days... a squeeky fan... my fan squeals when at high speed, nice to see some bugs don't get ironed out after 30 years!! Otherwise... I love my 2004 S60 AWD!
