ABS sensors 850 1996

Hi all,

My ABS warning light is on..!!
My question is.. is it possible to turn it off without tool..or will it turn off by itself if the problem is not severe, such as dirty sensors..?
Can we tell if a sensor is bad or good using multitester (Ohm meter)..?
I read somewhere that ABS problem is causing the speedometer to stop..? I don't see how they relate, but my speedometer dies after about half hour driving.
One time I had the front sensor disconnected after replacing front strut, strangely the warning light was not turned on even after driven for few days.

ABS sensors 850 1996

All the ABS control units (Installed on 96 and newer 850, 70 series and S80 models) will eventually fail after they reach 65,000 miles or 5 years. The average is 85,000 miles and/or 6 years for failures.
The erratic ABS light and/or no trouble codes is an indication of a defective ABS unit.

Here's more information on this issue and a replacement alternative.
