Help needed 850 1994

I've just read the Bay 13 info, it says that the car should be throwing a 313 code. I checked mine and its throwing 322 and 114, I followed the instructions in the Haynes Repair Manual to clear the codes, but haven't managed so far.It also refers to what you call a PNP switch as an RPM sensor.

The 322 code says "Incorrect gear ratio for given speed"
and the 114 code says "Break in driving mode selector circuit"

I'll repeat the symtoms: Car starts and drives normally for about 5 mins then just revs in Drive and doesn't go anywhere. I have to turn off the engine and it gets going for a while and the same thing happens again. I've even tried moving the stick back and forth 20 times, but this doesn'nt seem to help.
Ps. The car only has about 60,000 miles on it and I'm the 2nd owner.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, I have no clue what to do next.

Thanks Guys

My car did not give the proper codes either - sveeral trips in to the garage and they said they were not sure it was the PNP because of codes... but the symptoms matched what has been described over and over as PNP failure here. Finally one day while the arrow was still flashing and the symptoms were happening I got it in to the garage and sure enough all the right codes were there, they replaced the swicth and away I went never to have that problem again!

If I were you I would simply replace the PNP, it would probably fail eventually anyway so if it doesn't fix the problem at least you have headed off a future problem!

I could not tell from your post, but I am assuming that the
codes you pulled are from the A1 socket, transmission codes?

Sounds like the PNP switch, read the below link of some
previous posts regardig this issue.

Read the FAQ's on the pull down menu above for clearing
the codes. Try ratcheting the shifter back and forth about
20 times, clear the codes again and see what happens.

Good luck!

The codes where from the A1 socket. I thought it might be the Pnp switch after reading some other posts, but I am getting different codes. What does Pnp stand for, what is it an abreveation for?
Could it be the gear micro switch or solenoid?

Keep those suggestions coming, please....

Ciao from Strech.

Sounds almost like a throttle body problem but the codes are wrong...I'm stumped.

not sure .. my guesses check fluid level in trans flush fluid (per) bay 13
or have you done any work just prior to the trans malfunction look in this area first. loose conector anything you could have fudged? may be pnp switch but your right it wound be a different code I think.
