1995 850T transmission shift problem 850 1995

Intermittent hard shift or late shifting. Fluid flushed and changed twice. Does the PMP switch have anything to do with transmission shifting while at speed? Also transmission tends to act up in very hilly terain driving. However, seems to correct itself once back on the interstate. (170k miles on car)

1995 850T transmission shift problem 850 1995

I had similar symptoms, especially in cold weather. Then it got worse and would shift up and down while on the interstate (in and out of overdrive). Turns out it was the vehicle speed sensor. The tranny never really knew what speed the engine was turning, so it just bounced between gears.

Good luck...Bob, 95 850gl

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like it might be the vehicle speed sensor, not the PNP. Wondering the expense of replacing the vehicle speed sensor?

See Mar 17 entries for "juddrackham". May be the same thing he and I are seeing. We all have '95's. Seems to be heat related. Happens to me after climbing a hill or going a few miles at freeway speed.
