O2 Sensors. Dealer says replace both? 850

I got the 153 rear oxygen sensor and a 232 code. I replaced the front sensor about 6,000 miles ago at 80,000. The rear had already been replaced before I bought the car. Now I get this and the dealer says when you replace them that you have to do both at the same time. What's up with that? Is it really necessary to replace both. Fcpgroton has an extra wiring harness that I'm unsure if I need it or not. Thanks in advance for any help.

I thought it was recommended you replaced both sensors due to differences over time in the sensor responses and wiring oxidation?

Good point, however each sensor works independantly of the other so if the rear is not reporting any errors why replace it?
My rule is that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I have to agree w Armie. Make sure they're bad before swapping them. If your dealer is anything like mine, he'd sell his mother if there was a $1.00 to be made.

    Bryan,
Even if it is the O2, you do not need to replace both at the same time.
You can find info for do it yourself on Volvospeed Bay 13 website.

O2 Sensors. ...NO ..................VACUUM LEAK!!!!! 850

You have a vacuum leak, probably a split hose and don't need ANY O2 sensors.
