V70 XC 98 with REALLY bad gas milage V70-XC70

we're talking 15.9 highway miles, anythought on what is goign on? it's defenetly wrong somewhere, it should get better than that according to a poll done in feb. most of you seem to get 25 or better.
it gets about 15 in town to by the way.
other than the milage thing I LOVE my car and would trade it for anything (just traded a minivan for the Volvo)

    I get 19 mpg highway with my 98 V70XC.
I always though it should be better but?
    I typically drive about 130km/h or 80m/h

    Is this not typical?

PS, my previous car was a Bonnevile with a NA 3.8 L and I was getting 33 highway. I was willing to sacrafice a bit for all wheel drive, but not this much.

Seems not very good - I got 22 mpg daily city driving with my 1994 850, and on highway I got 28 mpg.

Now I get 25 mpg with the 1998 S70 5 speed... drive to work about 80% in 1-3 gear. Haven't taken it on any road trips yet to determine average highway mileage but I expect at least 28.

But perhaps the AWD is just not as efficient? I thought you should get better mileage with AWD.

Check for vaccuum leaks and the O2 sensors!

My independent found a dime size hole in the 3" hose between the air mass meter and the turbo inlet. It was on an '89 765 with 203,000 miles. I had changed plugs, wires, filters with no improvement.

Vaccuum leak. Check the elbow on the passenger side of the head, below the power steering pump.
