Should I get OEM windshield wipers? Any recommendations welcome. S70 1998

My windshield wipers are stuttering, so I'm guessing that's a sign they need to be replaced? Is there anything special about Volvo windshield wipers? I'd like a good pair that does a thorough job and doesn't leave streaks. Any recommendations welcome, even non-OEM wipers. Thank you!

Wow! Thank you all for the info and recommendations. I always get great help on this site. Maybe one day as my experience grows in owning a volvo, I'll be able to contribute. Thanks again!

Should I get OEM windshield wipers? Any recommendations welcome. 850 1995

Volvo windshield wiper blade is OEM from Bosch. I just buy Bosch Micro Excel blade for my 850 since new.

Hi,
I use the teflon blades. They cost @$18.00 each (Canadian), and leave no streaks, don't stutter, and don't lift from the glass at high speeds.
Well worth the investment.

I have heard that Bosch makes the wiper inserts also.

But, I only use Volvo replacements. Mainly because I replace the entire unit every time (once per year). The Volvo arms are MUCH better than any others I've seen, in my opinion. Also, the Volvo inserts have metal backing, where others usually do not. I never get streaking with the entire Volvo unit, but have the couple of times I used another insert (though that was some time ago).

Bosch is the OEM for Volvo S70 1998

Mercedes BMW Porsche.

As Klaus says:
1. Kmart...cheap stuff Ok for a year
2. New Bosch wipers with arms at Pepboys for about $8-9/each
3. Bosch refills only for half of the price of #2 above.

I go through 2 refills before changing the entire arm.

BTW, Volvo does not make the parts such as tires, wipers, spark plugs, thermostats etc. There is a misconception about Volvo OEM, they are very good at scaring people......."if you do not use Volvo parts, your car may break down!"

In fact:
1. Bosch makes the following for Volvo:

ECU
sp plugs
ignition components
sensors
anything electronic

2. Wahler makes the thermostat

3. Contitech makes the belts.

4. Mann makes the filter.

Many online car parts sell OEM (original names, but EXACTLY the same as Volvo parts). I have used these parts the last 15 years, they are the same as Volvo parts.

Any autoparts store has Bosh wipers for half the cost. I go to Kmart and buy the rubber refills. They only last a year or so, but that's OK. Wiper blades should be replaced annually.
