Help removing inner tie rod S70 1998

Can anyone tell me the procedure to unthread the right side inner tie-rod end? Is a special tool required ? If the steering wheel is turned all the way left causing the right tie rod to fully extend, will I be able to get a pipe wrench on it ? I haven't been able to get the boot off to see the end of the steering rack (the lock nut on outer tie-rod is seized - I'll probably have to cut off the outer end). The part of the new inner tie-rod end that threads into the steering rack is round and has no wrench flats. Thanx, John

Help removing inner tie rod S70 1998

    Hi John,

I had luck getting both of my inners off using a large set of channel lock pliers. Mine you, it didn't just come undone, it took me about 10 minutes to get the right angle and position myself correctly, in order to get it off, but it worked.

Use some PB Blaster (penetrating oil) to get the outer lock nut undone. It's easier to get the outer off if you leave the the end of the tie rod in the steering knuckle (assuming that is not already how you are doing it)

    BB
