tranny fluid re-freshing

I want to re-fresh tranny fluid in MY02; want to remove big plug which faces driver side, drain whatever comes out (probably 3-4 L), add new 4L; does this make sense, am I gaining.....your opinions are welcome
Best.

Actually I've been doing this with all my Volvos. I just drain what is in the tranny pan and replace it with fresh transmission oil every 30,000 miles. Like you say it takes about 3 or 4 L of oil. Others will have different opinions on this procedure but it works for me.

A dealer will do just that every 20,000 miles for $100. If you want the fluid a lot cleaner repeat two more times and call it a flush. remember you need to start the car between the drains.

actually the dealer I got the fluid from was suggesting not to do this at all....volvo does not require this in the maint. schedule, why the unnecessary cost etc etc....
go figure ?
