Timing Belt Replacement Confusion (when to change??) S70 2000

I have read alot about this in the "Brickboard" for a while, so I just thought I would sign-up & post my question. I have seen all over these forums, different suggestions on actually WHEN to do the timing belt replacement on my 2000 S70 (non-turbo). I have seen anywhere from 30K, 65K & 75K miles. The 2000 Owners manual states to do this at 105,000 miles. So when SHOULD this be done? I am new with Volvo's, but know how to & when to do work on US vehicles. Thanks for ANYBODY'S INPUT!!!

Timing Belt Replacement Confusion (when to change??) S70 2000

Timing belt maintenence is critical on these motors. Just recently did a $2K plus head job on a V70 AWD R after his tensioner seized at 83K miles. We are changing belts and tensioners on these motors at 70K miles at my shop. A broken timing belt can ruin your whole day.

TO: DJB; Timing Belt Replacement Confusion (when to change??) S70 2000

Thanks for the info DJB! Since I am a "Newbie" when it comes to Volvo's (very knowledgable on most US cars) Where is a good place to buy parts from, meaning good prices for good quality parts? If we were talking about Ford's etc, I know where to buy & what to look for as far as good quality brands & not getting "@#$@$'d" on prices! I have seen on here posts about FCP Groton & they seem to have good prices, but I am used to good old USA Parts, prices & brands etc. What ELSE should I replace: T. Belt, Tensioner, anything else? Maybe the waterpump? Suggestions??
Thanks for ANY HELP you can shed on this subject!!!

On your 2000 it is 105,000 remember to also change the tensioner $65. Do not say "If it's not broke don't fix it" because if it does break I'm sure that $2000 repair will be low. The '98 were a split year some had 70k belts and others 105k.

I find it strange that the belt replacement is 150 000 km for a V70 2000 at a Swedish Volvo workshop (93 000 miles if I got it right..) Does the belt improve by being shipped overseas?

Why not change the shaft seals while you're in there?
