1998 S70 interior light and dash lights? S70 2002

My wife's car, the interior overhead lights will not come on when the doors are opened. The position of the rocker switch on the overhead console makes no difference. The footwell lights come on when the door is opened. Help?

Also, how do I take apart the dash to replace burned out lights bulbs behind the sunroof switch, rear defogger, etc...?

Thanks!!!
Chris

If you are looking to replace burnt out bulbs on the Sunroof switch, TRACS switch etc, fortunately, you dont have to pull the entire dash apart. Just need to pry the individual switches out.

    Here are the instructions :

Chris, I know you won't want to hear this, but to replace an instrument panel bulb, you will have to remove the entire dash panel upper fascia. The procedure is contained in the readily available maintenance manuals. It is not technically difficult, but it is slow-going the first time, as you must be very careful when you disconnect the air bags and locate and remove the many Torx screws holding the fascia. Once you have gone to the effort to remove the fascia, you may want to consider replacing all the instrument lamps so that they all get a fresh start. That is an inexpensive hedge against Murphy's Law, which says that an unreplaced bulb will burn out shortly after you tighten the final Torx screw. Good Luck.

With the doors closed, will the inside lights come on using the switch? If not, I would suspect that the bulbs are burned out. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to pop open the light cover to check.

I'm not sure about the other bulbs you mention. In fact, I'm not sure those switches even have bulbs. If they do, they're probably built into the switch, which more than likely means replacing the switch.
