Best source for 850 tailgate struts?

I ordered some on eBay for $20 each but they are too long by about 2mm. Any suggestions for shortening them - or a place to buy the right part for less than $50 each?

FCP Groton (fcpgroton.com) has them for $25 each. I read in a previous post here on brickboard that Pepboys also sells the OE manufacturer struts at a resonable price.

Did you try loosening & adjusting the front ball mount (2 12mm bolts) to give you the needed length? If so, sorry.
Aftermarket struts are not exactly the exact same dimensions as original volvo, but they are less $$ and normally do fit.
