Cranking No Start S70 1999

I have owned this car since 2000: it has 70k, 2.5(non-turbo), standard shift. Its only needed routine maintanance until last month when it needed a heater core. This morning it is a cranking no-start.

I removed the timing cover, and see the cams turning. I hear the fuel pump pressure up, and there is 'lots' of pressure on the rail. (Pressure guage is broke).

I am hesitant to rig up the coil on sparkplug dealie, to test for spark. This seems alot like when my Saab ate it's crank angle sensor. However, in this case, I see two likely canidiates... the sensor on the cam cover, and (apparent) flywheel sensor.

Any idea how to test these? I have a digital VOM. Thanks, its a cold world without those heated seats!

    Cranking No Start S70 1999

Had a similar problem with mine, the mechanic at the local shop said it was likely the crank sensor, replaced it and it started right up. I didn't even try troubleshooting mine, but I'm guessing if you put your multimeter probes on the connector (it think there are 2 wires) you should see something, but not sure what voltage is correct.
