service light reset 850 1996

For what it's worth, I discovered that by removing the negative cable from the battery terminal, it cut off my CEL and erased whatever code was in there.

Just bought a 1996 855 on Saturday. Yeah! My first Volvo. Although I already am having the odometer replaced, the CEL came on for some reason(now off, after installing a new head unit) and there is a squeak coming from somewhere inside I can't put my finger on, and the interior hatch panel isn't exactly on flush, and I want a new keyless remote. But, hey, it's a '96, and sweet.

Does anyone wanna buy my SC-710 head unit?

1993-95 VDO TYPE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER Code 1-5-1

Switch on ignition. Select position 7 on Volvo data link
connector (DLC) A.

Depress button four times, shortly but distinctly.

You have now entered test mode 4. When LED emits steady glow, the
system is read to accept code.

Enter first digit while LED is still lit (1). Wait until LED
glows steadily to enter second digit (5). Repeat procedure for third
digit (1).

Control module confirms operation by LED giving a couple of
rapid flashes. Zeroing is completed and SRI turns off.
