Hi! Hoping for some advise in locating an after market catalytic converter S70 T5, 1998. Any suggestions will be helpful. Warranty just expired and the part through the dealer is 1,000.00 plus. Thanks all!

Seems like there are a lot of aftermarket converters out there. I'd try one. fcpgroton.com lists some and the highest price is $270. I think you have to be very precise about the year and model...may even need a cope number off the engine.

The other possibility...my buddy has a non-turbo and his converter "went", but the indy mechanic offered him a new one for $700, or to send the old one out for welding. He chose the welding option. It was only $50 for welding...of course there was the on and off labor...which was all in the mix of a big service. But the point is...it was fixable. Also...I use "used" parts from erievovo.com (not a typo)...the phone is 1-888-865-8613. It is a very reputable recycling/wrecking yard. It's more expensive than some....but get this...his parts carry a "lifetime" warranty.

You did not say how many miles you have. Note that the catalytic converter is covered by a separate 8 year 80,000 mile waranty. If you have less than 80,000 miles, the dealer has to replace at no charge (unless it was damaged through abuse).
