97 850 Fan Speed Control Issue

I have a 1997 850 with about 118K miles. Speeds 1 & 2 of the fan control no longer work, but speed 3 works (have not tried speed 4). Is the switch a more common failure than the resistor? Any way to test either or both? Thanks.

    If the resistor fails you normally loose all speeds except 4, which is direct current (12V). Check your fuses also. With 3 working, I would suspect the switch.
