97 850 T5 Turbo good year? 850

I am looking at a 1997 T5 Turbo with 62,000 miles. I have owned alot of volvos, just wanted too know your impressions on:

T5 engine - Seems well built, built to last?

Good year overall?

me too;

I jsut bought a 97 850 GLT wagon with 111,000 miles. I think I got a good deal. The car sat idle for a long time and need some TLC (brakes, tires, tuneup) but it runs and rides like a dream. A few more little things to do. It sounds like you have a great car with those miles. good luck.

If the owner is honest, buy it. The drivetrain is strong, but it has its querks - it's a Volvo. Maintenance is key to longevity.

My 1997 850 is a non-turbo (originally wife's car, now she has the new one due to new baby). It's been fairly reliable, and I've seen a few posts on this forum commenting that this year and model are one of their better cars. JMHO.

I have a 97 850 GLT that at 80K miles is still running strong. Well built, fast, nice interior and good handling.

Turbos are stronger than NA engines. I have been told by more than one mechanic that the 97 is the best of that series.

I have two 97 turbo GLT's. They are more maint intensive than my old 89 760 T that I really likes until it got hit twice.
