1998 V70 Cruise Intermittent On

Dear all,

Help please.

Symptoms: Out of 10 times activated, cruise control is activated only one time. When car hits some bumpy road even at 55mph, cruise control deactivated.

1. Checked all vacuum hoses to gas pedal actuator and brake pedal switch. Look OK.
2. Traced vacuum line from gas pedal and brake pedal and it appears to be connected to electric air pump (below battery). Is this the case? ie is the cruise control run by the air pump.

3. I recently drilled two small holes at the bottom of the electric air pump just in case any water trapped in there would be drained; but found no water.

Is there any connection between these events or the problem is elsewhere?

Thanks guys.

Thanks Klaus

Problem seems solved.

What I did was:
1. Spray WD-40 into the control lever (next to the Steering Wheel) in case the contact was bad.
2. Spray WD-40 into the brake pedal switch.

Problem seems solved but will report to the group later.

make sure the switch at the gas pedal is not loose. If there were no vacuum, cruise would not work at all. Of course, you could put a dab of silicone sealant in those two holes :)

Where do I check for "tighness" at gas pedal?

TIA
