Undulating noises 850 1997

85K miles and two conflicting issues:
I have a rattle, first 5 miles in the morning as my right front suspension member moves over undulations (gentle, supple bumps) in the pavement. Could I have a strut mount that is loose?
I noticed my CV boot is blown out. lubrication everywhere under my fender.
What gets me is that when the other boot went out there was noise only when the steering wheel was cranked full right, or left. Do CV joints exhibit temporary noise when going straight? If so is the bearing a gooner.
What next?

First thing to go on your front end suspension is the stabilizer link
that mounts vertically behind the tire. To check, just lay on your back
from behind the tire, grab the link and yank it back & forth. If there is
any movement, then it is shot. Cost for these links is @$30.00 USD. and the
same link fits both the left or right side of the car (just flip it over).
You should replace the CV boot(s) in any case; so if your not doing that job
yourself, have your shop check out the whole front end.

You may have a bad strut bushing. It's a relatively easy replacement if you have a spring compressor. Be sure to mark the location before you take it off to reduce the chances of having to realign the front end. The CV joint may still be OK if you get to it soon enough. If it's grinding or creeking when you turn the car then it's generally too late.

Undulating noises (reman axles?) 850 1997

Went to a local shop that has a good reputation and had the boot changed. $174.00 for boot change, they could not find the mysterious sound in the right strut area, I will check the stabilizer bar today.
Why did this shop first push their CV axle shaft as the first option ($235.00)? Axle brand was PRO, GIMP, AMP, or something odd. 12K/12000 mile warranty? What is that?
I have 85K on the car, will go much further, and feel more confident using the existing Volvo unit, installing the boot, than giving up my Volvo axle to a "remanufactured parts adoption agency". Am I over the top or what? Have you any good, long term experience with reman axles?

Also take a look at the tie rod ends.

Blown out springs seats maybe, bounce up and down on the fender and see if the top of the strut moves too far up and down and makes a squeaky rubber on rubber sound.
