S70 CD-CHANGER QUESTION! S70

Hey brickboarders. I recently installed an SC-901 In-Dash CD changer w/ a 400 watt Volvo amplifier into my 1998 S70. The in-dash CD changer is now a little on the fritz, and after some personal maintenance, I elected to buy an additional CD changer (which I got at an extraordinary deal!). It is a brand new CD changer, and my S70 already has the circular type DIN cable in it that the CD changer uses to connect to the Volvo head unit. What I DON'T understand, is what the other plug (or lead) on the CD changer does...A yellow and black cable was included with some funny plugs on the ends (1 end has a blue plug, the other end has 2 grey plugs...sort of square in shape). I know my way around Volvo audio systems, but this CD changer has me rather confused! Could anyone give me any insight as to what the other plug, or this strange cable functions in the system? Thanks to all for any help!

-steve

    S70 CD-CHANGER QUESTION! S70

Did you buy a volvo unit, or an Alpine? It it's a volvo unit, I suspect the plugs are just the power input to go to some predesignated part of the wiring harness.

      S70 CD-CHANGER QUESTION! S70

Rick, this is actually a Volvo unit...I'm puzzled? Does it just need that one DIN cable to connect? (I.E. it gets power, signal and everything through that?)

      Thanks for the post!

        S70 CD-CHANGER QUESTION! S70

I don't think so...but I now also have an S70 with a Volvo factory unit...I'll slide it out and look. I'm pretty sure the non-din plugs interface with the volvo harness. For example..in the rear of your sedan on the drivers' side there will be a blank spot in the power antenna plug...that runs your cd unit. The power antenna has both continuous power and switched power to the radio...perfect for the CD unit.

          S70 CD-CHANGER QUESTION! S70

I have a 816 and a factory changer I installed myself. The second harness(rectangular one) goes into a connecter that is next to your power antenae unit. My S70 was already prewired with that cable that goes into the stereo, so the other end was next to the antenae unit. I mounted my changer horizontally with the horizontal mounting kit and the connecters are really close to the changer.

I have a question for you. When installing your 400 watt amp, where did you install it? Isn't the c70 400 watt factory amp installed in the trunk?
