Cruise Control Intermittent Problem V70-XC70

Help please,

Cruise Control acting up:

- Highway speed
- When activating Cruise, it works only approx. 1 time out of 10 times that I tried
- No consistent pattern of when it works and when it does not work.
- When it works, occasionally when car hits a small bump, it turns off by itself.

WHERE DO I START?
- Is there a Cruise relay that I should check?
- Is this likely from Cruise Computer?
- Or is this likely from some mecahnical (? cable) that I can check?

Thanks

Try this. Drive down the road and hold the brake pedal up with your left foot and turn the cruise on. Keep holding the brake pedal up. If everything works, then the switch on the brake pedal needs adjusting.

Almost sounds like a bad contact or loose wire deal here! The only thing you could do is try to trouble shoot the actual switch for continuity when its on and bang it around a little. Maybe trying something with an OHM meter and the switch connection. I'm not much of an electrical wizard but thats what I would try first. When people ask me if I know what a "Wheatstone bridge" is.....I always say its some bridge in NY! Sorry I could not be of more help!
