decisions, decisions

I'm trying to decide between a used 2000 S70 (53K, SE GLT in very good shape, but with a PS fluid leak) for $14,500 and a 2001 S60 T5 with 84K and in super shape for $15,900. I just sold my 96 850 wagon with 212K on it, and miss her. I know these are pretty different cars, but they're both automatics which I don't like but is all I can find. Wasn't in love with the manula shift option on the T5, too slow to be useful. Any idea if the auto tranny on the two cars is qually reliable. Any opinions assuming the dealer fixes the leak on the S70 (it's the second in a row I test drove with low PS fluid). Thanks.

The '01. A new steering rack is about $1200, plus a new ETM at $1100 puts the balance on the '01 side. 84,000 is a lot of miles for 4 years.

I thought the light pressure and regular turnos used a Motronic system where the ETS was reliable? And yes 84K was a lot but they're probably highway miles - the car was in the best shape of any I'd seen. Still, the 53K on the 2000 was attractive.

Go for the '01

electronic throttle sensor/module(ETS) failures are common in '99-'00 models and expensive to repair, dealer only repair to the tune of about $1100.

ETS failures not as common in '01 and newer, SO if it was me I would buy the '00 only if it came with a dealer extended warranty to 100K miles, otherwise the '01 S60 is a better buy.
