my 850 winks at me when I put it to bed 850 1994

I'm a new 850 owner. I'm too embarrassed to ask my mechanic. Why is the light in the middle of the dash flashing when I lock the doors. I feel like it is winking at me. Is this sexual harrassment or just a car alarm? I just want to know. I guess I could get a larger reduction in my insurance. My agent will love that. Thanks in advance

I've come to enjoy that reassuring "wink" when I lock my '94 854. If you ever find it doing a strobe thing instead of the "wink", that means it was set off when you were gone (would have to have been pretty bad though, as our cars don't have motion sensors to trip the alarm, only door open sensors). My parents called that light a "heartbeat", as it would show through the car cover when I used it.

yes the factory alarm is armed when you lock the doors. there's a procedure on how to disarm the alarm if you don't want the lights blinking.
