Noisey Fuel Pump 850

My '95 non turbo has almost 100k miles and at times the fuel pump is very noisey making a sort of rattling-buzzing sound. Is it time for a new pump or would a presssure regulator be the problem? Some early morning starts are followed by a few dips in rpms that almost stall the engine. Afterwards it runs fine all day.

It could be your pump, but I would also check the filter and the pickup in the tank. Are you parking too close to the tar pits?

Thanks for the suggestions. The filter's only a couple months old. Do you mean that the pickup could be getting plugged? I'll have to take it out and have a look. I don't want to get a $200 pump if I don't need to. 100K miles seems a little low for a Volvo fuel pump lifespan although I'm finding that some Volvo parts are not what they used to be. How long do the 850's usually go? The tar pits are definitely some place you'd not want to get too close to but they're in Labrea closer to LA which is where they belong. Definitiely not in "the OC"!!! An understandable geographical switch.
