A/C on 99 S70 S70 1999

The A/C will run on my S70 without any problems most of the time. Sometimes, however, after driving for 30 minutes or so, it will stop cooling. Fan will still be blowing, just not cooling. I've noticed that when I stop driving it will make a whining noise, like a pressure release. This is heard when outside the car. The car has the automatic temperature control.
Thanks

had the same problem with my 2000 SE. After numerous dealer visits, it turned out to be the AC sensor...the compressor was freezing up after about 30-45 minutes because the sensor was faulty. If I turned the AC off for a few minutes to allow it defrost time, it would work again until the same thing happened.

Good luck.

Do you recall how much it was to get it fixed?

I think it was around $250.

I can understand Minnesotan's lack of AC knowledge, but Tennesse? Open the hood and check if the compressor clutch is engaged and turning. When the AC works, does it cycle on and off every few seconds? If so, you are getting low on R134a and will need to add some. Get a pressure guage and check the pressure on the low side.

Thanks for the help. Once it warms up I will try these solutions
