Tire Rating...request for authoratative source S70

I'm having a problem with BJ's and Sam's club. I have 2 T5 wagons, a 1999 and a 2001. Both came from Volvo with H rated Michelins. Sam's Club and BJ's wholesale club both use a Michelin manual which says the car specs are for a V tire. This really limits your tire choices and eliminates some of the best choices. I can't find any info from Volvo which confirms any specific rating. It's frustrating. If I needed rims I'd just order from tire rack, but since the tire deals at the warehouses rebalance regularly for the one tire deal fee, they are a good choice. I'm pretty sure I'm about to misrepresent my model to them when ordering the tires....that way I can buy H rated tires. Sam's club does not stock, but will order BF goodrich traction TA's. Read up on those in tirerack. Very different than Touring TAs. If you find an authortation reference quickly...please steer me toward it. (I'm a suspicious son of a gun...I suspect Michelin fudged this thing to force us back to their tires....and if i can prove it, I'm gonna bust their balls right back again.)

Can anyone show me an authoratative source on tire ratings, other than Michelin?

Tire Rating...request for authoratative source S70

    Rick,

These cars are electronically governed to 130 mph, which is consistent with the speed rating for H-rated tires.

V-rated tires are good up to 149 mph. Planning on getting some track time some time soon??? ;)

No not at all...i agree with you. I would just like to push back at Sam's and BJ's who only want to sell the V rated tires.

I think you are overly suspicious regarding the big box retailers motives. By sticking to the tires listed in the manual, they are limiting their liability in the event of a potential lawsuit. This is a huge concern for these types. Of course you could use an H rated tire, they just don't want the responsibility. Are they really that much cheaper than TireRack?

Actually, they are just slightly more expensive. But when you buy from them, you get a rebalance every 7500 miles for free, free flat repair (not a big issue). My issue is that I know my cars came from the factory with Hs, and I have a better tire selection if i stick to Hs.
