Oil Leak 850 1995

1995 850T:
Oil is weeping out of a [factory made] pin head size hole in the bottom of the intercooler. I can also feel air coming from same hole. Can some elaborate on possible causes?

Thanks

    Intercooler weep hole 850 1995

It's the weep hole that was placed there by Volvo's engineers for any oil carried to the intercooler to drain out through. Otherwise, the intercooler would fill with oil eventually. Usually, if everything is functioning correctly, and the turbocharger seals are tight, it should just leave a drop or two of oil on the driveway.

    Oil Leak 850 1995

THIS CONDITION IS NORMAL. THERE IS A WEEP HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE INTERCOOLER FOR OIL DRAIN.

      Oil Leak 850 1995

Thank you for the quick feedback Akarocket,

There is much more oil than I would expect....after 1/2 idle oil has accumulated along the entire bottom of the intercooler [at least I think it is an intercooler...it is a long plastic channel along the bottom of the radiator].In any case it is a "new" condition.

I read an previous posting about high pressure build up in oil system due to plugged vacuum lines. I had main seal replaced last year [by dealer about 20K miles ago] at about 95K miles. I was just under car 15 minutes ago and it looks as if main seal/bearing area is leaking again. You can imagine what I'm ready to do with this car, certainly not looking forward to replacing rear main seals every 20K miles....any thoughts?
