12V power outlet - no power V70-XC70 1998

I've got no power at the front 12V outlet on the console. Most likely just a loose wire or something. Does anybody know how to remove the woodgrain panel on the console without causing damage, so I can get to it?

Not really a big deal - Rear outlet still works, but I'd like to fix it if it's not too much of a pain to get in there. Thanks, Daire.

Have you checked the fuse in the engine compartment?

No, why would I do something sensible like that?! Seriously, I just checked, and it was the fuse. I'm a dope. Guess I assumed that both front and rear outlets would be on the same circuit - bad assumption. Thanks for saving me the hassle of ripping open the console...

    Hi Daire,

lift up the storage compartment cover, and you will see kind of a trap door panel toward the front. remove this with a small slotted screwdriver, and you will find two fasteners (probably 8 or 9mm bolts). remove those, and you should be able to remove the entire console cover.

You won't be able to lift it too high, due to other electrical connectors, but you should be able to see what is disconnected that is causing the front outlet to be nonfunctional.
