buying a v70

Hi,

I am looking at buying a v70. I am in the UK and my budget for this will run to an early new shape (high miles ~ 100K), or a late classic.

Can anyone point me to a good resource for the problems that are likely on these alternatives and I would welcome comments about which is more reliable, better to drive, etc.

My Brother is a mechanic (audi) but knows what he is doing generally (maintained my saab 2.3t to 180K, porsche C4 to 130K, etc)

Is the factory workshop manual available ?

Does the T5 really eat tyres ? assuming something like michelin Pilot sport or continental contisport 2's which are what I would genmerally fit to a car like this, how long would they go ? 20K ?

What intervals do you recommend for timing belt changes (and is that shorter than volvo recommend ?)

Is there a concensus about tuning options ? BSR &c ?

Many thanks for any comments.

Mark

You could try the UK Volvo owners club. Most of the posts on this board are for Left hand drivers. There was a posting on the V70R.com site for a Saffron 1998 V70R, in Britain somewhere. Probably sold by now, sorry.
Tyres are funny, if you keep them at 40psi, they last for 40K miles. At 32psi, they wear out after 20K miles. Sacrifice ride comfort for miles. It also depends if you get awd or fwd.
