Firing order (dist. cap & spark plug wiring) 850 1995

All,

Just bought and installed new distributor cap, rotor, and wires. But now car will not turn over. Sounds like I have mis-wired spark-plugs to distributor cap. Checked connection diagram at

http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/sparkplugs.htm

But still she wont turn over. There's planty of gas in the cylinders when I pulle dthe new plugs out for inspection, have yet to check the plugs for spark though (will do tonight).

Please advise what correct wiring should be if different from above. Or suggest different trouble shooting approach.

Thanks,

Phil

    All,

Rechecked wiring diagram with alternative manual. I had the configuration correct. Tried starting again...I cranked for about 10 seconds and she sounds like she wants to start, but then stalls out. Is it simply "flooded"? I double checked the gap on the plugs (0.028" per manual spec.). Also cleaned plugs of raw fuel and carbon deposits. The carbon deposits are suggestive that I am getting spark, otherwise I would not see the black fom the burned fuel.

I hate to do it, but if I can't get her started I might need to take her to a shop in a few days.

    Phil

This may sound foolish, but check to see if the coil wire is connected, and if that does not work, check to see the rotor was installed.

Keep it basic, and often you'll find the fix.
