Upgraded brakes S70 1998

My son and I have been discussing insallation of larger rotors and multi piston calipers, both front and rear. Doing this will also require installation of offset brackets to reposition the calipers.

I am interested in hearing what others think about this modification or about personal experiences. Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

Ira,

Why?

Volvos are well known for having excellent stock rotors & pads. They do produce a lot of dust however.

The only problem I've had on my '98 S70 was some pedal softness due to air in the system. It is a bit tricky to bleed and is best done with a pressure bleeder.

Make sure to change the fluid every two years.

Bryan

I have also discussed this option with my wife, answer: no. It seems I don't race, seldom go over 80mph (except in Nebraska and Colorado), never push hard on the brakes, have a decent braking car (better than most American sedans), and can't remember the last time I needed to brake hard enough to lock the tires. If I don't go OEM with my next rotors, then I will get standard size rotors with channels to help eliminate gas build up under the pads.
