2003 VS.2004 S80

I have an opportunity to buy a new leftover 2004 S80 2.5 for $29,995,Great deal I know, but this same dealer also has a certified 2003 2.9 6 cyclinder S80 with 21,000 miles on it for $25,000.Which is a better S80 the 2004 with the 5 cyclinder 2.5 low pressure turbo or the 6 cyclinder 2.9 which they do not make anymore?????
I will be buying this car and plan on keeping it for a long time!!
Please advise ASAP ,the new deal on the 2004 ends on tuesday.
Thanks,
Charley

2003 VS.2004 S80

FWIW get the '04 2.5T. I've owned a 2000 S80 2.9 and, while a nice car, I thought it a bit sluggish in stop and go driving. I traded for a S60 2.4T and was very satisfied with my choice. I just needed a little more rear seat room so I bought a '05 S80 2.5T and sold my S60 to my daughter. The turbo S80 has very nice sporting performance for me with excellent gas mileage. In stop and go driving it much more livelier than the non-turbo 6 cylinder. The 5 speed tranny helps also whereas the 6 had a 4 speed. I don't think you will be disappointed with the 2.5T and who doesn't like a NEW car? Hope this helps.

The new car is probably the better buy. But it's my experience that these engines give the S80 two different personalities. The 2.5 Turbo is a great engine, lively and eager. But I have an affinity for in-line sixes-- they're so smooth. $25K for 21,000 seems like too much, so I'd go for the leftover '04. See if you can get the dealer to throw in--or heavily discount--the extended warranty.

There was an update to the S80's in mid 03 for 2004.5 model year. nothing major, but update non the less. I would always choose new if given the chance. I just got an a leftover o4 S80 T6 new rather than the pre -owned 03. great CAR!! good luck.
