Battery Replacement on My 1998 S70 S70

The battery on my Volvo s70 is approaching 5 years. I’m thinking of replacing it as part of my winter tune-up with a new OEM battery.

Is it really straight forward? Should I conceder anything else besides the radio’s activation code?

Thanks,

Alfredo

Monreal

The Volvo batteries fail without hestitation after 5 yrs...no matter the mileage. I've bought several relacements fromm various sources...NAPA and Sears and the private mechanic. Three of them (many Volvos in the Fleet of family cars over the years) cost $100 each. BUT my latest was the $39.95 size 47 relacement battery from Walmart. It's got a 2 yr complete replacement guarantee and a 72 month prorated guarantee. I realized it could be a foolish experiment, but my hand was forced at 6:30 PM on a Friday night when the volvo battery just crapped out. Walmart was opened and there the battery was. Funny thing, when I brought my old Volvo battery back into the store that night for the $5 core credit, the old batteries were stacked in a shopping cart at Customer service. And I set my Volvo battery right on to of another Volvo battery.

So far so good. Typically I spare no expense on maintenance, but I'm getting some strange satisfaction out of this $39 purchase.

OEM battery from volvo are not renowned anywhere when mine gave out i went with interstate because they had a model that fit perfect in the tray and higher cranking amps than oem and that battery was flawless even last winter when temp. was -40c on many nights

any battery manufactured by johnson controls will preform well look for high cranking amps 700 or more

very straight-forward. Just remember your battery code and your set.

I think db may be reminding you to note your
radio code. The radio will be inoperable after
a battery change until the code is entered.
