considering purchasing '99 T5 5 speed suggestions??? S70

HI Guys,
Since selling my 850 two years ago, I have wanted another Volvo, and I have found a T5 5 speed that I test drove and could'nt believe how fun it was.

The car has 87,000 miles, service history unknown, but looks to be a VERY clean car from down south.

I would be using it as a company car at about 35,000 mile per year.

AM I CRAZY or could this be a reliable daily driver? what should I look for on this car that could be trouble?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried to get the service records from the "new local" Waukesha Volvo (read Fields Volvo), and was first told that it was illegal to give out service records, then on a second trip ther, they said that it is Fields corporate policy not to give them out!

I LEARNED ONE THING, THEY WILL NOT BE GETTING MY SERVICE BUSINESS!
Field is new to Wisconsin, and seems to be coming here with .....
never mind!

I did the same thing S70

I bought a 99 T5 about a year and a half ago w/ 70k miles. Never having owned a Volvo before, I was a bit nervous about the milage at the time. I've since put 36,000 miles on the car and all I've done is replaced the Mass Air Sensor. This is a common problem w/ the S70 and costs around $300 installed. Go for it and good luck!

Of course you're crazy. We all are.

The peculiarities of the '99-up cars include an electonic throttle module ($$$$)(drive-by-wire, there is no throttle cable) http://www.brickboard.com/AWD/index.htm?id=747962 and the timing belt is supposed to be changed at 105k mi., along with it's mechanical tensioner. If you can't get the stamped logbook and service history, at least look to see that the filters (air and cabin) aren't completely filthy, and that the oil is clean. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same set of problems that the 850 and 70 Series have been having since 1992.
