Cruise is inoperative. I'm looking for fault codes (not in Haynes manual) or other suggestions. Thanks!

First, check the mount for the cruise behind/above the brake pedal. It could be loose and needs tightening. Next, check for vacuum leaks under the battery tray.

mechanics told me it was vacuum hose on mine i did not find out where the hose was though.
