Upper torque mount question 850

Just wanted to see what other peoples experience with this were. Just replaced my upper torque mount and I used the aftermarket urethane two piece bushing, the black one that FCP Groton sells, not the yellow one I think comes from IPD. Anyway, I had read in the past that people have not liked the urethane mounts due to higher levels of vibration being transmitted through the car, but I thought I'd try it anyway since it was easier to install and should last longer. Well, I think they were right, it seems theres alot more vibration at idle with this bushing than when the stock rubber one was in good shape. I have a brand new OEM type rubber bushing I'm now contemplating putting in the car, but I wanted to see if anyone else has seen this same thing. It makes sense to me that this would happen, the urethane is much stiffer and less pliable than rubber, thus less able to soak up vibration. I've found the same thing happen with suspension upgrades I've done with urethane bushings, better handling due to less squirm and deflection but you feel much more road vibration and your ride gets a bit stiffer. However, in those cars I was interested in performance and was willing to make the trade off, not so in my daily driver, and I don't think the upper torque mount being urethane is going to make my car go any faster, handle better, or stop quicker.

    Upper torque mount question 850

I'm also one of the many who's installed the blue IPd upper engine mount. I've been very happy with it. Echoing the comments by others, there wasn't a substantial increase in noise or vibration after installing the mount.

I actually ordered one of the black urethane mounts from FCPGroton and returned it because the material was really, REALLY hard. The softer material used in the iPd mount was more what I was looking for.

    Just another happy customer.

I put the IPD (blue) two piece in and am very happy with it. Very minor increase in vibration--I mean, you have to focus on it to really notice. Also can hear slightly more sound from engine when its under load, but again, you have to focus on it. It was such a simple instal, I think it was well worth it...

If you replace with the rubber mount ,put some tension on the engine before you tighten it down .Will reduce the vibration even further
