CV Joint? S70

When I turn left I hear a clicking noise coming from the right front wheel area. A friend with some non-Volvo mechanical experience (including replacing CV joints) said it sounds like the CV joint. Any other ideas? Is this a good DIY project ? Any instructions available on-line ? Thanks, John

if you hear a clicking, your cv joint is f'd, sorry. replacing drive axles is a pain in the ass but if you have some mechanical knowhow and are inclined to figuring things out, you can handle it. I'm no mechanic myself but i figured it out. get a service manual and make sure you have all the tools available before you start. be sure to get a bigass bar to break the nut loose from the axle, that part really blows.

oh yeah and next time make sure to check your cv boots regularly for wear or leaking grease, if they look crappy then have them replaced. you can most likely have the boots replaced by a mechanic for less $ then replacing the whole axle assembly yourself when it breaks

Do I have this right : the whole half-axle has to be replaced, the CV joint alone is not replaceable? Thanx
