Sudden drop in gas mileage? V70-XC70 2002

Hey. I took our 2002 V70XC in for its 2-year check-up a couple of weeks ago. (The car only has 9,000 miles on it, so this is the first major look-see, though we've done some minor stuff.) I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but we're suddenly getting drastically poorer gas mileage. Could anything have happened at the check-up? What (else) could cause this? Thanks for any thoughts!

Sorry for the delay, I just signed up for this board. You took your car in to the dealership for service. Did they fool with the maf sensor? This could account for your decrease in mpg. What I learned was after the maf is played with you must disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and after reconnecting the battery drive the car for 10 minutes. The fuel adaptives have to be reset. It worked for me... Good luck
