'93 850 Ambient Temp. Read-out Problem 850 1993

Before I replace the outside temperature sensor, which I think is under the leaf screen, do you have any suggestions why the temp. readout in the cluster reads "LO °C"?
The auto climate control does not work for this reason too - but not sure.
Thanks.
Great site!

Multiple problems. The LO temp in the dash is the outside air, and the sensor is behind the bumper, dirver's side.

Inside: The front grab handles hide a little hole. Clean out the lint and the fan on both sides.

If the heated seats take 10 minutes, they are not working. Check wiring and fuses.

Klaus,
When you say front grab handles - are you referring to the grab handles on teh ceiling or on the seat? Is this the location for the thermostats?

Does the REC/AC light flash when you start the car?

I dont think the outside temp sensor has anything to do with the cabin temp.
There are sensors in the cabin determining the auto climate control. If those are malfunction then the climate control will also.

Thanks for the feedback.
I think you're right - the ambient temp. probably has nothing to do with the climate control. No flashing lights.
When I set the fan and temp to auto, simply nothing comes out - even in low temps.
Are the heated seats ties into the climate control? The reason I ask is becuase they seem to take a long time (+10 min.) to warm-up and never get hot (like the newer seats).
Any ideas?

No the heated seats go on a thermostat under the individual seat. They will heat till the thermostat shuts it off. I've notice goes hot.. warm .. hot.. at least on my seat. 10 minutes from cold. seems a little long.. mine usually heats before the car heater blows out hotter air. Overall the heated seats should work in about 4-5 minutes and the ECC should start in about 7 minutes which is pretty good.

About the ECC, if your not getting any flashing or codes it should be functioning properly. Are you sure you dont have your Mix Air On. If you have that at full it'll be blowing cold air through your main vents and blowing warmer air through the other vents. But the main vents with the outside air (cold) will keep the cabin colder.

Ok - I'll check the thermostat under the driver side seat. I checked the passenger seat and it seems to get warm pretty quick.
About the flashing lights - they do seem to flash after about 20 sec. when the ignition switch is set to ON position before the car has been started. I'm not sure if this normal or not.
Thanks.

Not normal. You can check the codes for the ECC system, B1 or B2 I think.
