po410 850

It's that time for me again. I just tried to pass my vehicle through emission and was told I had a PO410 and also need to replace my check engine light on the dash. The light is easy enough but the quandry of the SAS pump is a mystery to me. The same exact issue was at hand two years ago and the local dealer was kind enough to set the OBD II via the drive cycle and my vehicle passed without any repairs. I have not had the battery die in that duration and it seems highly suspect the same code would trip ?( by the way the whole sysytem was replace under warranty about 3 years ago) Is there a way to physically check the pump ? If it turns is it good ? I understand the replacement is a DIY job but I am hesitant to purchase the parts on a whim when I should investigate a little further and check feed back from the board.

p0410 is only a system check, not a replace-a-part light. find a shop with the autodiagnos tool. it can run the system from the tool and operate the air pump. if it fails, then diagnose it from the shop manual. might be a hose came off. if it passes, then put the light out and cross your fingers. good luck, chuck.

I did mine on my 98 V70 GLT. You can reset the light, but if it keeps coming back on, it's probably the pump for sure SAS pump and check valve for sure.
